Remember that there are two Jackson 7th grade volleyball teams so there will be twice as many players selected to play on the 7th grade volleyball teams next year!

Even if you were not selected for our 6th grade team, you can still make the 7th grade team and play volleyball for the Jackson school system! Attending volleyball camps and other volleyball programs will increase your chances of making the 7th grade team.

Other Jackson Township area volleyball opportunities for sixth grade girls:

Elite Sports offers various volleyball camps and clinics throughout the year. www.elitesportsohio.com/

First Friends Church has low impact volleyball programs http://firstfriendssports.com

YMCA Youth Volleyball (Jackson and North Canton Ys both have programs) http://www.ymcastark.org

Numerous high school and college volleyball camps in the summer (our Jackson camp will be in June!)

Clinic has ended!

A big thank you goes out to all of the girls who attended our annual 6th grade volleyball clinic!  We had a fantastic time and really enjoyed all of the girls this year!  This was one of the most talented groups we’ve ever had. We hope the girls enjoyed attending it as much as we enjoyed coaching it!

Last Day of the 6th Grade Clinic

Wow, it's hard to believe that the last clinic date is coming up!

This Sunday, December 11 also serves as the tryout for our 12U travel team that plays in the spring.  We passed out shirts and information last Sunday; be sure to check in with me at school if you missed the clinic or if you have any questions!

Also, check out our JVBC Website for more information on trying out.  Even if you don't want to tryout, you are still encouraged to attend the clinic!

We're excited to see the turnout!

Match vs Green

The 8th grade Gold team took on Green tonight in a much anticipated match!  Green is a great team and they really showed it tonight!  We had heard about some of their tall, good hitters and luckily our girls came to play!

They won the first game 25-20, lost the second in a nail-biter 25-27, and won the third 25-19.  The girls played great overall!  We had kills from multiple players and Karlie had a great night serving!  We were so proud of the girls for their win although the close, back-and-forth nature of the match was a bit nerve wracking!

The 7th and 8th grade Purple teams both beat Lehman tonight.

The 8th grade Gold team played Lake Blue tonight.  The team got off to a slow start and did not look like themselves in game 1!  Thanks to a string of serves by Aly, they got back into the game but ended up losing 22-25.  The 2nd and 3rd games looked much more like our normal team!  We won those 25-14 and 25-13!

The 7th grade Gold team played great tonight!  The 7th grade Lake Blue team was a really good, scrappy team (much like their 8th grade team).  Our 7th grade Gold team lost in 2 but they were close and played so much better!  They are really starting to come along!

Scorekeepers

We want to give a shout-out to our 3 new scorekeepers for the Gold teams!  A big thank you goes out to Autumn, Brynn, and Naudia!  Thanks girls!

Match vs Lake White

Yesterday, the 8th grade Gold match played Lake White.  The girls started out sluggish and seemingly un-enthused (much to the chagrin of Coach Dannug and Coach Johnson).  They lost the first game 16-25 and stayed looking down through almost half of the second.  Then they finally came alive!

The girls started to pick things up and won the second game 25-21 (after being down by 8 points!).  The girls then continued playing well through the third game and won 25-19!

The 7th grade Gold team also had a rough night, losing to Lake White in 2 games.

Match vs Oakwood Green

The 8th grade Gold team played Oakwood Green tonight in our Federal League and Home Opener!

The girls were excited to begin league play and it really showed in their play!  They went hard against last year's league champs and won the first game, in exciting fashion, 25-23.

The second game was even the whole way through although our Gold girls lost a bit of their momentum during an almost 10 minute delay where Oakwood was out of rotation and that was trying to be corrected.  However, the girls continued to play hard but came up short, losing 21-25.

The third game was another close one!  Unfortunately, the Gold team missed several serves, some in crucial times, that caused the Oakwood Green team to come away with the win.

The girls played really well for our first home match and were not playing nervous in front of the big crowd!  We'll get Oakwood Green next time!

The 7th grade Gold team also played Oakwood Green.  They were a bit rough around the edges but played well together and showed perseverance!   They won the first game 26-24 and the second 25-22.

The 7th and 8th grade Purple teams opened their Federal League season tonight by playing Hoover Black.  They both won in 3 games.

Go Bears!

Early Bird Tournament

Today the JMMS volleyball teams participated in their first matches of the year in the "Early Bird Tournament" hosted at Jackson High School.

The 8th grade Gold team played its first match of the season against Wadsworth, who was probably the best team at the tournament, other than our own Jackson teams!  The girls were without Lyndsey in that match and really came together to overcome the last minute absence!  They played great!  Mak had a string of serves which included several aces!  The girls won 25-14 and 25-19.

Next, they played Northwest.  Lyndsey was back and they were ready to roll!  They played an amazing first game, with Ava leading the way with a bunch of serves in a row!  They won 25-6.  Northwest gained some momentum in the second game and the Gold team struggled a bit with passing.  The girls managed to pull out the win 25-23.

Their last match of the day was against the talented Louisville.  They played pretty well in the first game and it was very close the entire time.  The girls couldn't quite get ahead enough for the win and lost 23-25.  The second game the girls came on strong and won 25-13, with the help of a string of great serves from Aly, which forced a third game.  Unfortunately the girls were not able to pull out the win in that game either, although they may have if it had gone to 25 (like our normal matches) instead of 15 (for the tournament).

Regardless, the girls played great in their first tournament and will start the season with a 2-1 record!  Great job Riley, Lyndsey, Ava, Karlie, Mak, Lauren, Aly, and Ally!  We missed you Kayla!

The 8th grade Purple team lost its first match to Marlington but beat Cuyahoga Falls and Massillon to also start out the season with a 2-1 record!

Updates on the 7th grade results will come soon.

Go Bears!

Welcome!

Hello!

Welcome to Mrs. Dannug's Volleyball Blog!

I am Coach Dannug, formerly Coach Hubbard!  I got married last weekend (yay!) and I changed my last name but I will definitely still respond to Coach Hubbard though in case you forget :)

I have moved my blog so that people, especially newcomers, don't get confused with the different names.  So if you've been following my posts at Miss Hubbard's Volleyball Blog, I will just be continuing them here!

You'll still be able to access my old posts, if you'd like, at misshubbardsvolleyballblog.blogspot.com.

I'm still coaching the 8th Grade Gold volleyball team this year and cannot wait for my 9th season to begin!  See you soon!
